About Ananda

We opened Ananda Art and Tattoo in November 2009. After looking at a lot of places we were delighted to find our current location at 32nd and Tejon in the awesome Lohi neighborhood. I have been tattooing for a decade and wanted to bring a nice tattoo gallery to my neighborhood. We do a full range of custom tattoo work, anything from black and grey to color to Japanese to tribal and portrait work. When you walk in you will not find our walls plastered with tired old tattoo designs. Instead you will see a revolving selection of fine art for sale from us and other local fine artists. We don't do "flash" tattoos, so bring in your own art or ideas and we would be happy to help you design a unique, artistic tattoo for your skin only! At Ananda our primary concerns are your art and your safety, all artists are educated in fine arts, blood-borne pathogens precautions, and fully licensed and inspected by the City and County of Denver Health Dept.. You may notice that we don't have a big sterilizer in the shop, this is because we made the decision to go completely disposable. Meaning we do not re-use tubes or needles because this is the best way to ensure your safety. These days there are a lot of shops in Denver to choose from, some are downright scary! Others are a little too pretentious for most folks. When you walk through our door it is our wish that you will feel safe and comfortable. You are encouraged to shop around before choosing a tattoo artist; however, we are confident that once you come to us you won't go anywhere else! Willie Stewart, owner

Getting a tattoo
Many people out there have been thinking about a tattoo, but have NO IDEA where to begin! This may help point you in the right direction. We can design anything you want tattooed (within reason), the first step is to figure out want you want, meaning a noun. If you are reading this then you are on a computer, google images has an infinite span of pictures. If you where thinking about something in particular maybe mine through there for a little inspiration and save or print anything that catches your eye. Once you know what you want give us a call or stop by to set up a consultation. Here we will take your idea or picture, pick it apart, and draw it out, modifying it to make it usable as a tattoo, and reflective of you and any meaning the piece has to you. Generally we will take a drawing deposit of $20-$60, depending on the amount of labor required. From here we will have you check out the art and move forward to your actual tattooing appointment. We are happy to take walk-ins based on availability, but booking an appointment is highly recommended. For weekend tattoos you are urged to book at least a week in advance as we can get pretty busy. Feel free to call us with any inquiries you have, remember there are no stupid questions when it comes to permanent body modification. namaste!!!
